Toledo Spain Tour from Madrid - Full Day

Toledo - a World Heritage City - is like an immense museum. Its old gothic and renaissance buildings, narrow streets and alleyways, testify to Toledo's days of magnificence. On this full day tour you will see the church of St. Tomé with the masterpieces of El Greco...the Medieval Sinagogue...and San Juan de los Reyes.

Upon arrival, you'll start with a panoramic walking tour of Toledo - entering the old city to visit the inside of the monumental Primate Cathedral, a magnificent sample of flamboyant Gothic style. The tour continues through the Jewish Quarter with its narrow streets, to visit the Church of St. Tomé with El Greco's very famous painting "The Burial of Count Orgaz." You will also visit the old Synagogue of St. Maria la Blanca - a symbol of the coexistence of the "Three Cultures" - the monastery of San Juan de los Reyes and the house Museum Victorio Macho where there are some outstanding views.

There's also a panoramic bus tour of the outskirts of the city with a short photo stop to admire an outstanding view, and you'll visit a typical factory of Damasquino, a well known handicraft art of Toledo.

If you only have one day to take a sightseeing trip outside of Madrid, Toledo is the city to see.

Toledo's greatest wealth is the monuments. Known as the "city of the three cultures" because Moors, Christians and Jews lived together there for centuries, this great diversity of artistic styles makes the old quarter of the capital of La Mancha a real open-air museum.

Vibrant in history, Toledo became a fortified city under Roman occupation - its location and the River Tajo made it an ideal fortress, and from that moment on the city became one of Spain's most important political, economic and cultural centers.
